Decisions in the Agile Era - nimble or lame?
Being agile calls for quick responses to marketplace happenings and technological developments. Agile is being transitioned from software development projects to functional and organisational operations. One undesired outcome is that over-hasty decisions sometimes happen - with negative consequences. We could recognize that neither the hare nor the tortoise always win the race, and counter this danger.

CULTURESCAN CONVERSATIONS THAT COUNT
In the past 18 months the number of hot-topic surveys has more than doubled. Now there are 27 available surveys (each of which can be customised for unique needs)
I’m so pleased that a leading edge church is currently looking at our Culturescan process for moving forward with their diversity-inclusion-belonging programme. Fingers crossed!
Incidentally, there is an excellent fit between key skills required during the fourth industrial revolution (for example, according to the World Economic Forum) and Culturescan’s coverage – so that focus areas can be immediately pinpointed and explored
A very recent client response, a CEO: “Thank you for all you do to help businesses around the world! Thanks for helping us”.
And a case for psychologically safe conversations: THE BIGGEST CORPORATE SCANDALS ’CAUSED BY A FEAR OF SPEAKING UP’
For a perspective on diversity possibilities and a menu of actions for organisations, see my article in Human Capital Review.
Doing social and environmental activism right has become an imperative for organisations and employees
One response has been, “Graham, I am deeply impressed. Your model is rich and, most importantly, not dualistic. Thank you for sharing this with me!”
And let’s not forget the importance of having fun:
I’ve been asked to become a management contributor for 12Manage, established in the Netherlands in 2006, and now the world’s number one on-demand-knowledge network for management.
And in the first week of August my posted discussion about Psychological Safety in the Workplace will be the 12Manage.com newsletter/ featured discussion.
My discussion on Getting the Organisation’s Values Right was previously featured.

ON BECOMING HUMAN (Confucius 551-479 BC)
"What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others" (The Golden Law)
"The virtuous man is driven by responsibility, the non-virtuous man is driven by profit"
"He who conquers himself is the mightiest warrior"
"The human being is not something we are; it is something that we do, and become…not an essential endowed potential, but what one is able to make of oneself" - a translation by Roger Ames and Henry Rosemont)
“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these” - George Washington Carver
ON BEING CONNECTED
“… all things visible are the revelation of God’s endlessly diffusive spiritual energy: Once a person recognizes that, it is hard to ever be lonely in this world again” - Richard Rohr
“It’s beyond me. Everything seems to have a soul – wood, stones, the wine we drink and the earth we tread on. Everything, boss, absolutely everything!” – Nikos Kazantzakis (Zorba the Greek)
ON THE COMPLEXITY OF PEOPLE
“There is more to understanding the human condition than science and secular culture generally admit” - Sam Harris
“A self that goes on changing is a self that goes on living” - Virginia Woolf
“For anything is possible when we let the heart be our skin. The unnerving blessing about being alive is that it can change us forever. I keep discovering that everyone is lovable, magnificent, and flawed” - Mark Nepo
ON BEING FULLY HUMAN. SIMPLY.
"The principle that creates a wise society and a wise life is simple and universal: Actions based on greed, hatred, disrespect, and ignorance inevitably lead to suffering. Actions based on their opposites—generosity, love, respect, and wisdom—lead just as surely to happiness and well-being" – Jack Kornfield
ON HAVING A CLEAR HIGHER PURPOSE
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver
