WHAT'S IN THIS NEWSLETTER
We're presenting at a workshop on Family Business Dynamics at Nelson's Creek in May, following a well attended similar event that took place in Stellenbosch in March
(See details in main body of this newsletter).
On 6th May, we lead an event for leaders, for organised by the
Quality Life Company in Johannesburg (0118809749). The subject is Virtues-Based Leadership. Through the use of stories, images, and interactive exercises, this workshop is an opportunity for leaders to explore why and how virtues hold the key to both authentic, switched-on leadership and high performance organisations.
A message from Marcella Bremer of Leadership & Change:
I wish to help leaders, professionals and consultants make a difference in their workplaces by positive leadership, inclusive change and cultures of kindness. I do so by providing monthly content (articles, ideos, podcasts and more) that is pragmatic, positive, and personal. Early in April I publish issue 6 of Leadership & Change magazine and we will give it away for free! The idea is to spread the inspiration and help
more people energize, engage and empower themselves at work. Contact Marcella:
New to our Member’s Article Archive is a wonderful article by Martin Lee, from the UK Association for Qualitative Research. What’s the story about stories is a reasoned perspective for researchers on storytelling in the worlds of research, advertising, marketing and branding.
MAN & NATURE
For me the only good cage is an empty cage - Lawrence Anthony
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes - Marcel Proust
You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete - Buckminster Fuller
If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.
- Rudyard Kipling, 1865 – 1936
BALANCING MASCULINE AND FEMININE
Every man has his woman within him and every woman has her man within her. Only the meditator comes to know his whole being. Suddenly his inner woman and the inner man melt and merge into each other. That creates an orgasmic state in him. Now it is no more a momentary experience that comes and goes; it is something that continues, day in and day out, like the heart beating or breathing.
Pope Francis' message to World Economic Forum in Davos Jan 2014: What is needed, then, is a renewed, profound and broadened sense of responsibility on the part of all. “Business is - in fact - a vocation, and a noble vocation, provided that those engaged in it see themselves challenged by a greater meaning in life” (Evangelii Gaudium, 203). ……. I ask you to ensure that humanity is served by wealth and not ruled by it.
DOING THE NEEDED WORK
