WHAT'S IN THIS NEWSLETTER
SURVIVING - ACCEPTING - GROWING DURING CRISIS TIMES
The free self-assessment inspired by Gabrielle Treanor is now finessed and up and running: https://culturescan.biz/work-from-home/
Following the successful launch of MANAGING ORGANISATIONS DURING THE COVID-19 VORTEX we have partnered with Knowledge Resources to design an assessment based on the book. It will enable organisations to keep their finger on the pulse of their people, functional, cultural and leadership needs as we enter into a different World of business.
After months of muddling through on my collapsing computer, saving for a replacement laptop, tracking down and ordering it, delivery has been delayed because the supplier has 3 cases of Covid-19 ... Trying times.
A friend spontaneously, generously contributed to the cost of a new laptop by means of a barter arrangement (I am to assist with production of a new venture business plan).
The pandemic has caused a number of projects to be delayed, including a chapter for the Business Storytelling Encyclopedia, and the Chinese launch of The Halo and the Noose
Bristol friend Luke Andreski has produced a book of great value in today’s tumultuous World. Short Conversations About Everything that Matters: Volume One - During the Plague.
the book asks questions like: Can we fix a broken media? Is a better World possible? Is a virus killing our World? Are there reasons for hope?...

LIVE TWITTER TALK
How will coaching change under lock-down and work-from-home conditions? This was the topic of a Twitter conversation between leading coaches, to which I was invited by The Coaching Graduate School of the South African Council of Applied Psychology. It took place on 21st July
The Institute of Management Consultants and Master Coaches of South Africa approached me to be a member of their Council.
FOR STORYTELLERS AND OTHER ARTISTS
“I recalled the artists who had done their work in gulags, prison cells, hospital beds; who did their work while hounded, exiled, reviled, pilloried. And those who were executed.
This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. This is how civilizations heal” - Prof Toni Morrison, author
"It is not the case that everything will be all right. If we don't commit ourselves to radical change, everything will not be all right" - Petra Guggisberg Nocelli, psychotherapist and psychosynthesist
“... an emptiness, a lack of spiritual and psychic gratification stems from meaningless and exhausting work” - Kevin and Jackie (Freiberg, Nuts! 1996)
"Be like the bamboo. The higher you grow the deeper you bow" - Chinese proverb
“... decisions we make in the face of this crisis will have a long-term impact on our future. The Scottish Government is therefore determined to ensure we deliver a recovery that it is not only sustainable, but is inclusive, fair, and champions well-being” - Letter by Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon, to the Surefoot Effect. 9th June 2020
THE NEW NORM?
"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered" - George Orwell (Nineteen Eighty-Four)
"There have been great societies that did not use the wheel, but there have been no societies that did not tell stories" - Ursula Le Guin
"The inner world of images is the central arena of who we are and of our possibilities. Every action, every new development is driven by its image, but also how we give meaning to our lives" - psychologist Jan Taal
"Shine the warm light of awareness on your thoughts and feelings" - Thich Nhat Hanh
